Jennifer Schlapia, principal at Jefferson Elementary School, accepts the Patriot Award, Nov. 13, 2024, during an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognition meeting at Jefferson Elementary School in Omaha, Nebraska. Megan Coffin, nominated Schlapia for providing support to her while she was activated on orders. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
